I have no work because of the lockdown so I’m unable to support my sick dad – The Sun

DEAR DEIDRE: EVERYONE has cancelled the weddings, birthday parties and work bashes on which my employer – a small catering firm – relies.

I’m a guy of 46 and suffer anxiety. I’m in a panic.

With all the cancelled events I've found myself without work, and I don't know if I'll be able to continue supporting my sick father

I live with my dad, who is 73 and unwell.

DEIDRE SAYS: You can check out support for the self-employed affected by the coronavirus at gov.uk/coronavirus. Click on “Businesses and other organisations”. You must do a self-assessment tax return for 2018-2019 but the Government has given us until April 23 if you haven’t yet (it was due in January).

Find guidance to benefits at turn2us.org.uk and see ageuk.org.uk for helpful information for your dad. My e-leaflet Coping With Panic Attacks explains how to calm yourself and get into a routine of regular relaxation.

The Headspace app is offering a free collection called Weathering The Storm including meditations, sleep and movement exercises. See headspace.com/covid-19.
