Brian McFadden has said that telling his two daughters that his fiancée Danielle Parkinson had suffered a miscarriage ‘broke’ him.

The Westlife star is dad to two daughters, Molly, 18, and Lilly-Sue, 17, who he shares with ex-wife Kerry Katona.

He and girlfriend Danielle had been trying for a baby and while they fell pregnant during their first round of IVF, Danielle heartbreakingly suffered a miscarriage late last year.

In a new interview with OK! magazine, the couple admit the hardest part was telling their families they had lost the baby.

Danielle revealed she and Brian had been ‘over the moon’ to be expecting and had told their mums.

‘Both of our mums had cried when we told them I was pregnant so it was even worse telling them we’d lost the baby. Having to tell Molly and Lilly was so hard, too,’ Danielle said.

‘That broke us a bit,’ Brian said, who described hearing news Danielle had miscarried as the ‘the worst sinking feeling ever’.

Danielle explained that she had been five weeks pregnant and a blood test in hospital confirmed she had lost the baby.

Brian had been out of the country in Dubai, and Danielle recalled the pair bursting into tears when they saw each other, as she flew out to meet him after telling the singer the news over the phone.

Since then, the couple have gone through a second round of IVF, but it was unsuccessful.

Hopeful that they’ll still be able to fall pregnant, Brian and Danielle have two more cycles of IVF to use and said they are feeling positive that it will work.

If not, the pair added that they would consider turning to surrogacy or adoption.
